Basic rules:

  • Aim: strengthening the existing networks by allowing scientists to go to an institution or laboratory in another COST member state to foster collaboration,
  • Number: An Action should normally set up at least 4 STSMs per year.
  • Applicant: The Applicant is responsible for obtaining the agreement of the host institution, before submitting his application.
  • Duration: Short-Term Scientific Missions, minimum one week (5 working days), maximum 3 months.
  • Finance: An amount of EUR 60 to 90 for the daily allowance in particular for longer stays and EUR 300 for the travel is recommended. The total of a STSM shall normally not exceed EUR 2 500.
  • Registration: The Applicant must use the on-line registration tool. The application together with the MC approval should arrive at the COST Office at least 4 weeks before the mission starts.
  • Approval: The MC chair or the Action’s STSM coordinator has to inform the COST Office Science Officer or the grant holder (in case of an annual grant) about the decision.

EURO-TELEPATH “Telepathology Network in Europe”

The EURO-TELEPATH “Telepathology Network in Europe” is an initiative of the COST (European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research) agency, supported by the European Commission Research Framework Programme (FP7).

The EURO-TELEPATH (COST Action IC0604) coordinates of research efforts to develop the most adequate technological framework applied to Anatomic Pathology for the management of multimedia electronic healthcare records (data and images) through the Internet.

The EURO-TELEPATH is supporting the exchange of young researchers to establish new areas of scientific collaboration or complementing multidisciplinary publications and research thesis on running prototypes in visited hospitals, laboratories and institutions. The topic must be related to digital pathology telepathology, medical informatics, image analysis, business process modelling, or technology evaluation.

Researchers in IT or medical field (including residents pre- or postdoctoral researches), that would like to visit some institution of the participating European countries, can be financially supported by EURO-TELEPATH (COST Action IC0604), applying to a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM).

The duration of Short-Term Scientific Missions, is minimum one week (5 working days), maximum 3 months. The grant will cover travel and subsistence.
